Pohoiki is the name of what was once a popular surf break in Puna, but sadly, the lava flow of 2018 changed the landscape and therefore the surf break no longer exists. Pohoiki is said to have gotten it's name from a crater the Fire Goddess Pele carved out in her search for her new home in Kilauea, and now is home to some of Hawaii's volcanic hot ponds.
